Patrick White Award

Very honoured that my play Dream Home has been shortlisted for the Patrick White Award, along with 5 other pretty amazing sounding plays:

Kate Mulvany (The Rasputin Affair), Rick Viede (Oranges and Lemons), Casey Nicholls (Love Boy), Anna Barnes (Minus One Sister) and Katherin Lyall-Watson (Motherland).

Heading to Sydney for the Award presentation on 24th May. Fun reason for a whirlwind trip!

Poetry at Fed Square

The Writing Project

The regular creative writing class I run at Kensington Neighbourhood House has extended in 2013 and we're excited about The Writing Project.

Over five Saturdays throughout 2013 the group will create, edit and polish pieces of work that will then be published in November in a small collection.

We'll have guest speakers in throughout the year, experts in writing, editing and self-publishing.

It all kicks off tomorrow, Saturday 16th March!

The Whispering Society

Another awesome event run by Pop Up Playground, The Whispering Society was part of Melbourne's inaugural White Night Festival.

In role as writer-in-residence, I went, I whispered and I listened.

19th Scarlet Stiletto Awards

So thrilled and very honoured to have won two prizes in the 19th Scarlet Stiletto Awards. My story A Clean Job won the Clan Destine Press Cross Genre Award and took out 2nd prize overall, with the Kill City Award.

It was sucn a fun night, guest speakers Kerry Greenwood and Marion Boyce discussed 1920s, crime, fabulous frocks and more, especially in regards to the amazing Phryne Fisher series and the TV series Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries.

There was this Hamlet

I was thrilled to work with visiting director (student at VCA) Tom Dello on an adaptation of Hamlet. Tom and I worked on the script, creating a 40 minute version of the play, which he then directed, with very talented second year actors at VCA.

Dream Home

A couple renovating their house discover utopia lurking behind a wall. All they have to do is enter. Dream Home probes notions of desire, longing and ‘living the dream’. It was shortlisted for the Inscription Edward Albee Scholarship 2012.

Word/Play at Melbourne Fringe Festival

I'm one of a bunch of authors reading work to inspire improvised scenes at this great little season. A new format created by the folk at Impro Melbourne.

Especially special because I was a member of Impro Melbourne for many years and used to perform regularly with this talented bunch.
